Helping Hands
The Healing Project extends profuse thanks to the following individuals
who have helped to shape the business practices of our organization.
The services outlined below have contributed substantially to the
efficient progress made to date by The Healing Project.

ALICE BERGMANN
Intern, The Healing Project

Alice Bergmann, a second year MSW student at Stony Brook University School of Social Welfare, is an intern with The Healing Project under the supervision of Theresa Russell, LCSW and Vice President of Development at The Healing Project. Ms. Bergmann’s interest in creative arts therapies in social work and specifically with cancer treatment, has grown out of her 23-year experience as a theatre professional, including 20 years working with children with whom she created interactive plays toward educational, entertainment, and therapeutic goals. This work included performances at The Zone at Mount Sinai Hospital-NYC, Barnes-Jewish Hospitals-St. Louis, St. Louis Children’s Hospital, Cardinal Glennon Hospital for Children-St. Louis, Shriner’s Hospital for Children-St. Louis, Camp Simcha-Chai Lifeline, Ronald McDonald House-NYC, and Memorial Sloane-Kettering Hospital-NYC. Alice created written and spoken word groups for Urban Pathways in New York working with the formerly homeless population, a children’s storytelling program at United Cerebral Palsy-Brooklyn, and recently created a group at Outreach Project-Bellport, NY, working with women in recovery from substance abuse. This 6-month expressive writing program in which the women wrote their own poems, essays and stories of their substance use, co-morbid conditions and recovery struggles, culminated in a staged performance of the women’s work by professional actresses in celebration of International Women’s Day.

Alice is a cancer survivor.
