Debra LaChance, Director and Chairperson
Debra LaChance is a breast cancer survivor and the Organization’s founder. Ms. LaChance is a Vice President of the Corcoran Group and brings extensive knowledge of business operations and finance to her role as a director and officer.
The Healing Project is business venture #4 for Ms. LaChance, who is also credited with the inception of Live On Line, an internet broadcast facility that was eventually sold to Digital Island; Style Industrie, a fashion trade show company that works to promote contemporary designers in the metropolitan area; and Lione & LaChance, a designer showroom that featured an eclectic mix of New York’s best contemporary designers. Prior to her entrepreneurial business ventures, Ms. LaChance served as Director of New York Finance Operations at the CBS Television Network.
As Chairperson, Ms. LaChance enforces the bylaws of The Healing Project and any resolutions or policies adopted by the Board of Directors.

Chris Lione, Director, Treasurer and Secretary
Chris Lione has extensive experience working in arts related businesses. He served as an art director and creative director for Harper’s Bazaar, Newsweek and Antiques Magazine. He has worked as a set and costume designer for several off-Broadway plays including “The Countess,” directed by Ludovica Villar-Hauser. Mr. Lione currently works as a sales associate at the Corcoran Group where his transition of skills, from design to real estate, has allowed him to capitalize on what he’s already best known for: his utmost style and taste. Mr. Lione’s passion for architecture and interior design, along with his knowledge of the New York marketplace, make him an ideal resource when it comes to researching property investment.
As a member of The Healing Project Board, Mr. Lione contributes his financial and organizational skills on an as-needed basis, including statement of account review and meeting minute issuance.

H. Michael Shepard, Ph.D.
H. Michael Shepard, is a founder, president and CSO of Receptor BioLogix, a California-based biopharmaceutical company focused on developing a newly discovered class of protein therapeutics called Intron Fusion Proteins™ (IFP™) to treat cancer, autoimmune, metabolic and other diseases. While at Genentech, he led the discovery and development of the breast cancer drug, Herceptin. Formerly, he was chief scientific officer and vice president of research at Canji, Inc., where he developed the application of the p53 gene product for cancer treatment. Dr. Shepard was a Damon Runyon Fellow at Indiana University and holds a bachelor’s degree from UCD and a Ph.D. from Indiana University, Bloomington.

Victor Starsia, Director and Vice President
Victor Starsia is an attorney admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of New York. In addition to his private law practice, Mr. Starsia is an entrepreneur who brings extensive operating experience to The Healing Project.
The Vice President of the Board, in the absence of the President, shall have the powers and duties of the President.
